It is understood that the mac launcher doesn't work, minecraft crashes on launch.

You can download an app file to do that for you

The complete process for launching properly is
1. Save the launcher jar on the Desktop in a folder called ftb

There is a plan (I'm pretty certain) to launch the launcher in application format for mac that can do that. (Will be linked replacing the crossed out space on the primary submit). Nevertheless, good resolution.

Identical to with Vanilla server you can make a launch.command file
Heres a one I threw together based mostly on the code above

Just unzip and drop it into the identical folder you might have the FTB.jar in and double click on.
If you happen to get an error saying it doesn't have permission, open a new terminal window sort in with out the quotes "sudo chmod +x (drag launch.command here)" then hit enter.
Ensure you have an area between the "+x" and the file path.

Have any of you tried merely starting it with this:
Code:
cd ~/Desktop/ftb/ java -jar FTB_Launcher.jar

This has labored for me. I find it bizarre although that the sport can not run without beginning it this manner. Especially because it does not throw any errors, however merely closes...
Have anybody investigated the cause for the odd conduct when launching the jar by double clicking it, or is it still a mystery why it acts the best way it does?

When you have java 7 put in it will not work on OS X. If you have an interest, read http://lwjgl.org/discussion board/index.php?matter=4711.0 .

I know of the problems with LWJGL, have been following the development of that thread for some time.. wanna get the new version. The one which ships with Minecraft has a nasty memoryleak on the subject of age-altering in Mystcraft (presumably also Nether/Finish, but not sure)
